Some Good Ways To Increase Traffic To Your Site

So I figured if I was going to be asking people to help me out with college, I should probably through up any advice I have on some subjects I contain some knowledge about.

Nowadays it can get really confusing how to generate traffic to your website. There are so many different companies out there claiming to be able to give you thousands and thousands of visitors. I am going to try and shed a little light on some of them for you.

Firstly, before you even think about getting traffic to your site, you have to have your site set up pretty well. What do I mean by this? Make sure you have meta tags in place, yeah some people say that meta tags aren't used anymore by search engines, but until they are taken out completely why the hell not fill them out?

Meta tags are a way that a search engine reads your web page content and decides to rank it. True that there is so much more to rankings in search engines besides this, but hey its one way and its still there so lets try and do it right.

I'm going to assume you have a little knowledge of web page making and if you don't then you might want to ask your webmaster if your tags are filled correctly. So, this is real easy, look at the html code for your web page. Up at the top it says

I can't post the html code for meta tags here so I'll have to explain; at the top it will have a tag labeled META. Then next to it NAME="keywords" CONTENT and then quotations. There is also a Description tag. Between the quotations you want to go ahead and fill out the most relevant keywords and a witty description of your site. To get a list of the most commonly used keywords on the net with relevence to what you are creating i suggest you use Overture Keyword Generation Tool

It gives you the most widely searched keywords related to a word you punch in. That site has a few other optimization tools, such as meta tag analyzer, but I haven't looked through them so I cant give an opinion.

Ok so after I scared you and made you change around your whole sites content to best fit the most widely used keywords nowadays, lets move onto the real reason why you are probably reading this article; Traffic Generating Companies.

Ok, this is a tricky subject. First off let me say this, I have never ever paid for traffic generation. I don't think it would be worth it, I have many doubts about every website trafficing companies authenticity and if anyone has paid for some and found it very useful please feel free to state your opinion.

There are many free sites out there that claim to give you thousands of free traffic. If anyone has the time to sit at a computer for 8 hours day watching ads flash by your screen, you probably can generate thousands of free traffic. However, I am going to mention some sites to stay away from to save you the trouble.

Sites like i-web-marketing.com qualitytrafficsupply.com if it is not listed as a verified business at BBB.com I would not pay for it!! You can't tell what is real traffic. Sure, your counter says that you had a thousand unique visitors, how long did they stay for? If they aren't on your page for at least 15 seconds I would get the hell away from that company. Bottom Line, do NOT go to a strictly PAY FOR TRAFFIC company. They are bogus. Sorry, traffic doesnt come by that easily. Oh yeah, that whole buy Re-directed traffic.. Come on, what do you do when you mistype a website and end up at a wrong page.. You go Shit this isnt the page I wanted and click out right away!

Ok, so where do I go to get free traffic Ray? This I can help with. Nowadays there has been a pop up of a few sites that generate some real traffic. It is form people just like YOU who want to generate traffic to their site! So how do they generate traffic? They have to look at your site to get themselves credit so their site can be looked at! Pretty simple huh? IT actually works pretty well. It puts the responsibility of the sale onto the websites owner!

Here's how it works. You sign up for this web traffic generating site, set up your URL to be looked at, and then in the members area there is a Begin to Surf link. This opens a new browser and you are greeted with an information bar at the top saying you generated X amount of credits and are obligated to stay on this screen for X amount of time before you can surf away to the next page and gain some more credits. BAM! you have someone obligated to see your site for the next 30 seconds. This may not seem like a lot but its all you need to present what you want on your site to grab their attention. IF you do a good job and they are interested they will sitck around, or bookmark it and come back later. 30 seconds is a lot of time, hell 10 seconds of mandatory viewing is a lot of time, if you have your information displayed correctly. Now it is true that a viewer cna just open the surfing browser let the time run out and go about his day on the net in another browser just to click back over and click the next site to gain a credit, but this still obligates himself to a few seconds of your site to view and if it's catchy enough then you just laid the hook.

Besides, if you are generating enough credits and have a thousand people at your site for 10 seconds than you should be more than happy. The internet is huge remember a thousand people is nothing nowadays, over time and over many visitors, revenue will start to flow in.

In reality if you use these two together, you will fill your day up and more with trying to generate traffic so you dont have to go in and register with a whole bunch of companies. They really all do the same thing, just word it a little differently but I use these two and I am happy with them. I haven't paid them a cent, never bough "credits" and I have generated thousands of visitors.

Ok so your site's content is up to date, your starting to generate traffic to your website, how come you aren't near the top of the search engine? Don't listen to anyone when they say they can have you at the top in a matter of a week, they are lying and taking your money. Getting up there takes time and it takes being recognized. Once you have a record of receiving a few thousand hits a month, should be around 10-30000 if you use both the companies I mentioned above, you begin to obtain a little bit of leverage.

Talk to other webmsaters, Google, especially, ranks your website by its "popularity." Not just the amount of visitors, but how many other websites out there link to YOUR website. Talk to webmasters, show them your stats, you have thousands of people coming a month. Offer to trade links, you display their link on your site, they will display yours. Do it for free, your helping yourself out by getting the link up there believe me. The more links out there to your site the better your going to be ranked by search engines.
